Ban Ve hydropower plant increased discharge flow and 'save' hundreds of hectares of spring rice crop

Due to the low water level of the Lam River recently, hundreds of hectares of Spring rice in Nghe An in the growing period are in "danger", following the direction of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Ban Ve Hydropower Company has promptly increase the discharge flow from 75m3/s to 200m3/s in 3 days from February 28 to March 1, 2024 to fight drought and save rice.

Currently, the 2024 spring rice crop in Nghe An is entering the tillering period, and it is necessary to provide enough water for the rice plants during this period. Through actual inspection in some downstream localities, hundreds of hectares of rice in some communes in two districts, Thanh Chuong and Do Luong, have suffered from water shortages leading to drought. Therefore, raising the water level of Lam River to ensure pumping stations can operate is an urgent issue that needs to be done immediately.
