Nghe An is a province with the largest natural area of our country where a dense river system exists and spreads over. These rivers originate from "Truong Son roof" with various steps and high slopes creating mighty waterfalls and cruel floods which threaten people's life in stormy seasons; nevetheless, they themselves are also greate potential sources for development of hydropower.
Ban Ve Hydropower Company was established on April 22, 2011 by the Member's Council of Vietnam Electricity. At present, the Company is directly performing management and operation of the Ban Ve Hydropower Plant Project with two units and its total capacity of 320 MW, average power output over 1 billion kWh/ year. It is a multi-objective hydropower project such as generating power to synchronize into the National Grid and supply for the neighboring country Laos; supplying domestic water, in-service water; implementing anti-salt, anti-flood for the Ca River downstream. The water storage pond has got a huge basin area of 8,700 km2, and storage capacity of 1,700 million cubic meter which contributes a part in reconciling the subregion climate; improving the environment, human ecology and developing tourism, transportation and aquiculture; then bringing up plenty of changes for people surrounding the project. In addition, the Company has completed in investment and construction of the projects namely Quang Tri Hydropower 64 MW, Nam Mo Hydropower 18 MW, and Nam Non Hydropower 20 MW, opening a door for building some other hydropower works in furture.
Objective of Ban Ve Hydropower Company is to become a substainable development enterprise which has a firm position in Vietnam electric industry. In order to obtain this objective, the Company will continue on patiently implementing lessones ever successfully applied during many past years, i.e keeping solidarity, drastic instruction, rules & disciplines; paying much attention to human resources; setting up the enterprise culture and following up EVN culture; and attaching the Company benefits to the comunity ones.
